7 ways cats show their love

Cats might seem colder than dogs as they don't show their affection in an obvious way. Ways cats show their love could look strange to us, but those are specific signs you will be happy to notice in the future when being around your favorite pet.

Cats do many things to show how they like us, so let's go carefully through them.

    Purring

If your cat purrs contentedly when you pet it, you don't need to ask yourself, "does my cat love me" anymore.

Purring is one of the first things kittens learn when communicating with their mother.

Like meowing, purring is one of the sounds cats use to "talk" with us. So your cat is telling you it feels safe and happy with you when it purrs.

    Exposing its belly

You know the belly is one of the most sensitive parts in animals, especially cats. Cat has the instinct to hide and protect its stomach and keep it from predators. If your cat doesn't have a problem exposing its belly to you, congratulations, it trusts you deeply.

    Grooming

Grooming is a social activity for cats. Cats groom each other, and that is a common sign of friendship.

Grooming is strictly licking; if your feline licks your hair, it likes you.

So when your pet starts grooming you, you know the love is real.

    Follows you everywhere

Is your cat acting a bit like a dog, following you everywhere? Is your furry friend getting in your way so you can't get anything done? Yeah, you are one lucky human being. You have a cat who loves you.

    “My cat isheadbutting me”

Well, it does feel odd, but when you think of how cats show their love, you need to know that when they headbutt you or wrap their tail around you, they "own" you and like you.

Scientists have a simple explanation - felines have glands on their forehead, cheeks, and chin that have pheromones. When headbutting, your cats are rubbing pheromones on you. Humans can't detect pheromones, but another cat will get the message right - you may consider yourself marked.

    Bringing you "gifts"

Cats are natural hunters, especially female cats who hunt and bring prey back to their kittens. It is undoubtedly not one of the most pleasant ways to show affection, but cats love bringing “gifts.” It can be a toy if you have an indoor cat, but things get complicated with outdoor cats. Your outdoor cat might surprise you with a dead or dying animal…

    Slow eye blink

This one is nice – if your little friend is slow eye blinking at you, it is a sure sign of love and acceptance. The slow blink requires the cat's eyes to be fully closed for extended periods, so the blinking moment means the cat trusts you'll keep it safe.

Next time your furry pet rubs its nose against your face or gets you an “unwanted” present, avoid instantly being annoyed or confused. That is just one of the ways for your cat to say it loves you.
