Cats vs. Lions: The Shocking Similarities

Did you know that your cat is 95% lion?
Researchers have sequenced the genomes of tigers, lions, and snow leopards to aid in conserving critically endangered big cats. Their findings were surprising, revealing that domestic cats share 95.6% of their DNA with tigers, having diverged 10.8 million years ago.
    Similarities between cats, tigers
Among the best-known similarities between cats and tigers is their body shape. Yes, there is a noticeable difference in size; tigers can weigh up to 661lb (300kg) compared, while domestic cats usually weigh around 11lb (5kg).
All cats have the same favorite toy
Cats, both domestic and wild, love cardboard boxes for their textures, smells, and ability to satisfy their natural instincts to investigate, hide, and play. This is why they are a favorite toy for many cats. Zoos also use boxes to enrich big cats' daily routines.
We have found an amazing solution for domestic cats as well: a new and fun cardboard game, designed to satisfy their instincts and made from safe and durable materials. It's called The Magic organ scratching board with a toy bell ball
    Cats mark their territory
Personal space is essential for both tigers and domestic cats. Cats have many ways to leave messages to each other, and one way of them is to mark their territory.
Both big and small cats mark their territory by scratching, rubbing, and urinating.

Cats have scent glands in their paws, cheeks, and on sides of their bodies that leave a trail that humans cannot smell.

    Cats are obligate carnivores
It is no surprise that our cats are obligate carnivores like tigers. Highly adapted to hunting, without meat, they can become deficient in specific nutrients, which may cause different health issues.

    Same hunting methods
Cats and tigers continue to act similarly when hunting. Their method consists of a few steps:

Spotting prey and trying to approach it as quietly as possible. Waiting patiently for the perfect moment to jump on it.The quick attack takes little time to finish their prey.

Now we can all look at our little furry friend with the same admiration as when looking at big wild cats. They look similar, love to eat meat, mark their territory the same way, and love to play with boxes.
